We will also be moving the OKAA checking account over to IBC. This month’s topic was on Tetras – Part 1 lectured by Gerald Griffin. It was very interesting to see different types of tetras. Thanks Gerald, It was very informative. Genus Aphyocharax has 16 species. Some of these species include Redflank and Bloodfin. Genus Astyanax has 133 species, which include Mexican tetras, and Blind cave tetras. Genus Boulengeralla has 5 species such as Pike Characin. Genus Brycon has 43 species of which most can be found from Central to South America. Genus Characidium has 54 species. These species have no swim bladder similar to the North American darter and are recommended in groups of eight or more because they can be nippers. Genus Catoprion has only one species, which is the Wimple piranha. Genus Chalceus has 10 species, which are recommended in groups of eight or more because they are a bit aggressive. Genus Colossoma such as the Pacu and Tambaqui tend to eat algae as juveniles then develop a hunger for fruit since their teeth are designed for that. Genus Crenuchus do not like to school. Genus Exodon like the bucktooth tetra do better by themselves or in big groups. Genus Gephyrocharax has 12 species. This Gland tetra has internal fertilization. Genus Hemibrycon has 22 species. These species are found in larger school groups and can be found in fast moving water. Genus Camegiella has 4 species. These Hachet fish can jump out of tanks so a tight lid must be kept. Genus Thoracocharax grow up to 4 inches and can fly out of the water up to 9 feet. Genus Anostomus has 9 species. One of these species is called a Headstander. It likes a well-planted tank and will not damage the plants. Auction:
