The November 20, 2004 OKCAA meeting opened up with electoral votes for 2005 officers which was held at the Oklahoma City Zoo Education Building. The clubs new 2005 officers are President Gerald Griffin; Vice-President Brian Carson; Secretary Monica Martinez-Osterholt; and Treasurer Michael Denise. Richard Atwood and Brian Carson are now heading the BAP committee. Good luck Guys.

Next on the agenda was Anabantoid Fish lectured by Gerald Griffin. Though it was short Gerald gave us little bit of information regarding Gouramis and Fighting Fish.

Some Facts:

• Paradise Fish (Genus Macropodus): second oldest fish kept in the USA
• Licorice Gouramis (Genus Parosphromeus): extremely sensitive to ph level change
• Pointed Tail Gouramis (Malpulutta): endangered and fragile
• Ceylon Fighting Fish (Belontia): at least 50 gallons needed when breeding
• Frail Gouramis (Ctenops): close to most difficult fish to keep alive and very prone to diseases
• Both the Helostomatide and the Osphromenidae family are commonly used as food
• Osphromenidae family are omnivorous and grow up to 28 inches
• Luciocephalidae family have external labyrinth organs
