Meeting Minutes, May 22th, 2001
Subject: May OKCAA Mtg Minutes
The May meeting went over very well. We had six guests, one couple driving all the way from Kansas to attend. And, "approximately" 10 regular members in attendance. So, even though several members were unable to attend, we still had a pretty good turnout. Our scheduled presentation covered the basics of setting up a marine tank. The Reef Shop, represented by owner, Kathy, and Don Bell, made a great presentation covering all the basics of saltwater tank startup. They even brought in several bags of different items for the members to look at. It was a very well organized and educational presentation and everyone seemed to reallly enjoy it. Following the presentation, all members and guests present voted to name the OKCAA newsletter "Tank Talk". THis will be the official name of our newsletter from now on. This month's edition went out in the mail to all those not present. By now everyone has rec a copy of the by-laws/constitution. Please have these read by next meeting, so we can vote on their acceptance. I have added one more membership type as well to accommodate large organizations or pet stores. This will be an organizational membership which will entitle the whole "store" to be a member. This membership option will be 20.00 annually and will not be entitled to a vote. They will have access to all meetings/activities and the newsletter. (the Reef Shop has expressed an interest in joining under this new option) Our next scheduled meeting is set for June 23rd (SATURDAY) It is scheduled on a Saturday due to scheduling difficulties on that Sunday. And, SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: We will begin meeting next month at the Education Bldg at the OKC Zoo.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, we are now looking for someone to fill the Treasurer's position vacated by Donna. And, we still need some people to join or help out with the Breeder's Award Program and Bowl Shows. We've got a good draft program started. We just need some more people to help out and get it going.
