Cynthia Teague & Dean Hougen's Personal Gallery

Cynthia: I've been keeping fish since the mid '80s, and joined my first fish club (Burlington VT) in 1989. I'm most interested in catfish, especially Synodontis, and in smaller Central American cichlids (Thoricthys). I particularly like breeding fish, though I haven't done much of that in recent years. Before Dean and I met (at the 1993 ACA convention) I maintained about 20 tanks. I've been involved with a number of fish organizations including clubs in Vermont, Michigan and Minnesota, the Northeast Council of Aquarium Societies, the North American Fish Breeders Guild, and the many ill-fated catfish organizations. The most interesting fish I've ever had spawn for me were a Sturisoma species ("royal farlowellas") though I never got the fry to survive long.

Dean: I've been in the aquarium hobby since the mid 1980s and I've kept and bred a variety of fish (livebearers, tetras, barbs, catfish, killifish, anabantids, etc.). My favorite group of fish are the South American cichlids. I particularly like mid-sized SA cichlids but I like the big ones and the small ones as well. And other SA fish. And Central American fish. And cichlids from elsewhere as well. And ... I guess that is how fishrooms happen.
